koodam (கூடம்: a hall, a room where people gather) is a marketplace for chennai’s working rooms: photo studios, podcast rooms, dance and rehearsal floors, small event spaces and meeting rooms. you pick a day and hours, see what’s already taken, and book with the total in front of you. hosts list free and get paid automatically.
why this exists
chennai has hundreds of good rooms that sit empty most hours of the week, and hundreds of people each day asking on instagram whether one of them is free on saturday. the answer arrives hours later, the price changes on the phone, and the calendar lives in someone’s head.
koodam replaces that with a page: live hours, a fixed hourly price, a card or upi payment, and a confirmation that blocks the host’s calendar the moment it lands. the host gets a booking they didn’t have to negotiate; the guest gets a room they didn’t have to chase.
rules that don’t bend

the price is the price
hourly rate, GST shown separately, no booking fee, no service fee added at the end. the total you see before you pay is the total you pay.

one hour can't be sold twice
the calendar is enforced in the database, not in a spreadsheet. a blocked or booked hour is gone for everyone, instantly.

no DMs
availability, price and booking are on the page. you never message a host to ask if 6pm is free; you see it.

money moves on rules
refunds follow the cancellation policy shown on the listing, automatically. hosts are paid two days after a booking ends.

hosts keep the tools
the calendar, the booking page and the direct link are free and stay free. commission applies only to bookings that come through the marketplace.

rooms by the hour. 12% commission on marketplace bookings, 0% through a host’s own link. instant book or host approval within 24 hours.
koothu · shows
the events side. open mics, gigs, screenings and workshops in the same rooms, with QR tickets, a 8% organiser fee and no booking fee for buyers.
